Lal Anatolia · lal comb texture

Questions

Asked often.

01Is the honey really wild?

Yes. We own no hives. Every comb we sell was built by a free-living colony in a cave, a hollow tree or a rock face in the mountains of Anatolia, Türkiye, between 1,800 and 2,600 metres.

02How much honey do you actually have?

About four kilograms a year. That is the entire harvest from every colony we follow, across all three origins. It is why jars are numbered, why there is a waiting list, and why we will never be in a supermarket.

03Why does it cost what it costs?

Because the whole mountain gives about four kilograms a year, and reaching each colony takes days on foot and rope. You are paying for the climb, the restraint and the laboratory, not the jar.

04Has it been heated, filtered or blended?

No. The honey leaves the comb by gravity, passes through a coarse cloth to catch wax, and settles in stone-cool rooms. It is never warmed, never fine-filtered, and never blended across origins or seasons.

05My honey has crystallised. Is something wrong?

Nothing. Raw honey crystallises; it is the clearest sign that it has not been heated. Meadow honey sets early into a fine cream, cave honey more slowly. If you prefer it liquid, stand the jar in warm water, never above 40 °C.

06What does laboratory-certified mean here?

Every batch is sampled, sealed with its own number and tested by an independent, accredited laboratory for adulteration, HMF, diastase, moisture, residues and pollen before it is offered. Write to us with your batch number and we will send the report for your jar.

07How should I store it?

Cool, dark, sealed. Honey does not spoil; it only changes texture. Keep the wax seal on until you are ready, and use a dry spoon.

08Is it suitable for children?

For children over one year, yes. Like all honey, raw or not, it must not be given to infants under twelve months.

09Do you ship to my country?

We ship worldwide from Türkiye, in a rigid box with the jar cradled in moulded pulp. Express delivery reaches most of Europe, North America, the Gulf and East Asia within a week. Duties at destination are the recipient's responsibility unless stated at checkout.

10What is the batch number on my jar?

The identity of the harvest: which origin, which colony group, which weeks. It links your jar to a laboratory report. Keep it; it is also how we would trace any question you had.

11Can I visit?

Not the colonies; their locations are the one thing we keep to ourselves. The valley, yes. Write to us and we will find a date when someone is not on the mountain.

Next harvest

Harvests are small and they sell out. Hear first.

One letter when a new batch comes down the mountain, with its origin, altitude and laboratory results. Nothing else.
